Elevate Prize Foundation Welcomes Nominations, Applications for Inaugural Elevate Prize Competition

The Elevate Prize Foundation has announced the launch of the inaugural Elevate Prize to empower and celebrate people around the world who can spark movements, mobilize people, and catalyze positive, transformational change. That includes solutions that can help communities around the world prepare for, detect, and respond to emerging pandemics and health security threats, including coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).  While the competition is open to global heroes who are addressing any challenge, the foundation is using the UN's Sustainable Development Goals as a general guide for entrepreneurs.

The foundation will award up to $5 million annually to a cohort of ten "global Heroes," as well as other resources for up to two years after a "hero" is selected.  The foundation is seeking a radically diverse cohort of “heroes” to present with a minimum prize of $300,000 spread over two years, with potential for additional monetary support; management and development services, mentoring and counseling, educational training, and capacity building; and connections to a global fanbase that can help amplify and scale their work.

In addition, MIT Solve, in response to the COVID-19 crisis, has launched a Health Security & Pandemics Challenge of its own to which the Elevate Prize will commit one of its ten prizes to a “Solver” team selected through the challenge.
