Charitable Campaign Celebration

Georgia Tech’s 2016-17 Charitable Campaign raised $393,460.96, breaking the Institute’s record (previously set in 2014) by almost $28,000.  A total of 1,279 people donated to the Campaign, which supports more than 1,300 worthy causes including support for cancer research, aid to families in need, and food for animals housed in shelters.  The effort surpassed the overall Campaign goal of $375,000.Campaign Chair Leanne West in the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Pediatric Technology Center attributes the success to several factors, including a final push during the last two weeks of the Campaign and the belief that no contribution is too small. “We really stressed the benefit to these charities – even if people only gave $1 a month or maybe a one-time $5 donation,” she said. “Every dollar really helps.”West is thankful to the Tech community. “I am grateful that people could find a charity that spoke to them, and then they were so generous,” she said. “Every little bit helps, and I am so appreciative that people really took that to heart.” For ten consecutive years Georgia Tech has received the Governor’s Cup for having the highest contribution per employee of the state institutions in its division.
