GCMI

The Global Center for Medical Innovation (GCMI) is the Southeast’s first and only comprehensive medical device innovation center, dedicated to accelerating development, building businesses and improving health. GCMI opened its doors in April 2012 and to date has worked with over 50 different startups, clinician innovators, university tech transfer offices and academic researchers to design, engineer, prototype, and facilitate commercialization of a broad range of innovative medical devices.

GCMI’s core team of designers and engineers collaborate closely with startups, clinicians, researchers, new product development teams and medtech entrepreneurs to accelerate time to market while reducing costs. The independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has a robust and ever-growing network of experts, including intellectual property, regulatory, quality systems and investors, to help bring ideas from concept to market.

In addition, through a close collaboration with our development partner, T3 Labs, medical device entrepreneurs and new product development teams have all of the critical resources they need to efficiently bring new products from an idea through GLP preclinical studies, all in Midtown Atlanta.

The Global Center of Medical Innovation (GCMI), is the world’s leader in driving efficient medical product innovation.

Using our proven high-quality processes, our expert staff serves Fortune 500, start-up, academic and government funded innovators. We work in over 11 therapeutic areas and a wide-array of medical products (Class I, II and III) including drugs and biologics. We are a fee-for-service provider with in-house expertise for successfully executing the medical product value-chain including the following service lines:

Phase Zero (P0)– Providing full life-cycle assessments for innovative medical products.

Design and Development (D2)– Good Manufacturing Practice(GMP)compliant designing and prototyping services for medical products, and “incubator” space for resident-clients.

Translational Testing and Training Labs, Inc. (T3 Labs) – Good Laboratory Practice(GLP)-compliant, AAALAC accredited preclinical contract research organization providing feasibility, safety and usability testing services to voice-of-customer and proof of concept events and physician/bioskills training in animate and cadaveric models.

Utilizing in-house resources, local core-lab resources and third-party service providers located around the world, GCMI works every day to commercialize innovative medical products that improve quality based outcomes and delivery of healthcare for patients.

GCMI, and its wholly owned subsidiary T3 Labs, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and affiliate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, a member of the University System of Georgia. GCMI is also a member of the GA Bio and the Southeastern Medical Device Association (SEMDA).
